Ángela Ruiz is an architect, professor and researcher. She holds a PhD from the Polytechnic University of Madrid with Honors. Her Thesis is about Sustainable Development Strategies in desert areas, working on bioclimatic approach in desert architecture. As a researcher she also writes articles and books and participates in different research groups about Innovative Education projects and Hypermedia field. She studied in ETSA Madrid and École de La Vilette Paris.
Since 2006, Angela has been professor in IE University and afterwards, also in other universities such as Polytechnic University of Madrid (since 2012) and Universidad Antonio de Nebrija (since 2010), as Associate Professor.
She has teaching as invited Professor in the Ural State Technical University of Ekaterinburg (Russia), Amar Telidji University of Laghouat (Argelia), Technical University of Crete, Xaniá (Greece), the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Nis (Serbia), University of Technology in Kaunas (Lithuania) and the Politechnika Lodzka University, in Lodz (Poland)
She has also been facilitator in several Design Thinking workshops for IE School of Business. She is the Director of the Project Module in MACA (Master of Communication in Architecture), teaching the subjects: “Entrepreneurship Project”, “Global Project” and “Academics”. She is professor of “Teaching strategies in graphic and artistic techniques” in the Master of Trainer of Trainers at UPM.
She founded Arysai architecture in 2001 then she moved to Paris to collaborate with Lacaton&Vassal and R&Sie (François Roche). She has been collaborating with Abalos&Herreros through several years, and now she focuses her work through bioclimatic and ecological architecture founding Atipical architecture in 2012, an office to create architecture, design and construction.
