Degree in Civil Engineering, at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), in 2000.
Obtained the PhD by the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, in 2007.
Has developed scientific activity in the area of Hydraulics, more specifically in the fluvial area and in the management of the water resources. In his field of research, he has several articles published in international journals with peer review and has been involved in several national and European projects, both as a researcher and as a principal investigator. He has also been active in research in the area of Pedagogy of Higher Education, in close collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto.
In the period of 2010-2015 he was the responsible for the coordination of mobility affairs of the Department of Civil Engineering at FEUP.
Since 2013 he is the Local Erasmus Coordinator at FEUP.
Since 2019 he is the Coordinator of the Teaching and Learning Lab (www.fe.up.pt/lea) of FEUP.
